Montessori House of Children

 Our Montessori classroom

“Every child, by instinct, wants to learn and grow to limits of his abilities”

Our Montessori is called “a house of children”

Montessori education prepares students for life and lays a strong foundation by helping the child to help himself. Early childhood is the only period, when child absorbs everything from his environment and builds up his individual personality. This is the time when foundation of an integrated personality can be laid.

We believe that most of our social and individual problems have their origin in the fact that the child’s vital needs during his growing up phase have been overlooked or ignored.

Our Montessori classroom is child centric where everything is child-sized. Our aim is to help child develop his individuality with full confidence.

Montessori focuses on the development of each person as a complete human being from birth to maturity

  • Activities:

The most important discovery is that a child returns to normal state through work. A child’s desire to work represents a vital instinct since he can not organize his personality without working: a men builds himself  through working.

All the material in a Montessori classroom are organized  into five curriculum areas:

  • Practical life exercise
  • Sensorial
  • Language
  • Culture
  • Math

The single most important areas of education for life includes:

ü      Care of environment

ü      Care of the person

ü      Grace and courtesy

Small children have many life skills that they need to learn to achieve independence. They develop a sense of pride when they are able t do things for themselves. Respecting a child’s desire to be independent is a cornerstone of Montessori philosophy. Children are given many opportunities to learn practical life skills in our Montessori classroom.

  • Sensorial   exercise stimulate and train hearing, touch, smell and taste.

We have to understand that the world can only be grasped by action, not by contemplation. The hand is more important than eye. It is the hand that drives the subsequent evolution of the brain. The hand is the cutting edge of the mind.

Children learn best when they are engaged in hands-on activities. Children need to investigate whatever interests them. They learn to identify objects solely through their sense of touch.

Throughout the curriculum children develop the small motor skills they need to be a successful write and the auditory and visual tracking skills necessary for leaning to read.

A rich and enjoyable vocabulary, and an interesting introduction to the structure of English , is introduced through poems, finger plays, songs, fables and stories.

The powerful math curriculum gives a child the opportunity to see and feel the concepts through activities   and lays a foundation for a rich understanding of mathematics. Any child who has learned math in a Montessori classroom knows the difference between 1000 an 100 because he has seen the difference and felt it in his hands many times.

An atmosphere of love and respect for plants and animals in the home and classroom is the best foundation for a lifetime of comfort and interest in nature. This gives the child the feeling of really caring for the beautiful objects and not just looking at them.

Humans are born to sing. There is no such thing as nonmusical child. Songs give children a way of expressing emotions and the very act of singing is a physical release.

Singing also gives practice in language, new words, poetry and historical and other cultural information.

Children of our Montessori can choose from collection of CD’s and enjoy the music at controlled volume.

  • Cultural activities (history and geography)

All cultural materials are connected and integrated using  timeline of life. Showing children how life as we know it came into being and how it is all interconnected, builds a deeper respect for life.. in Montessori term this is called “Cosmic Education”
